Unusual Nicknames: Watersmeet Nimrods

Some description

Being called a nimrod is an insult just about everywhere. Not in Watersmeet, Michigan, where the local high school proudly cheers for the Nimrods. Located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, near the Wisconsin border, Watersmeet sits in the Ottawa National Forest and hunting is popular in the area. The Nimrod mascot represents an outdoorsman and has biblical roots. Nimrod was a mighty hunter and the son of Cush and great-grandson of Noah. The nickname is extremely popular in the community, and has been the subject of an eight-part documentary, Nimrod Nation, and an ESPN commercial.
